Carson Bertagnole shot even-par 69 Thursday and dropped into a tie for second place after two rounds at the 72-hole Northeast Amateur at Wannsmoisett Country Club in Rumford, Rhode Island.
The rising UNC sophomore from Pinehurst had shot 61 to take the first-round lead. Tyler Watts of Huntsville, Alabama, shot 60 in the second round to take a four-shot lead at 126.
William Walsh, a rising senior at Pepperdine University, shot 67 to pull into a tie with Bertagnole.
